Welcome to Off-Site Backups

What is "off-sitebackups about?.

Well, read on.

Minimize the effects of a disaster on your business!!

What do I mean by “Minimise effects of a Disaster on your business”?
How would your business be able to cope with a disaster such as your main computer having a hard disk crash or coming to work one morning and finding some sleaze bag has broken into your office and pinched your computers or having a flood, or even a fire, destroy the contents of your office.

I am assuming here that you have a backup routine in place for all your data such as invoices, time sheet, pay slips, e-mail, etc.

If that is so then that is very good.
But do you take your backups off-site on a regular basis?

If not, then one day when a disaster strikes you will have lost everything and will have to start from the absolute beginning or at best only have a backup that may be several months out of date.

How much would that cost your business to recover a complete system rebuild and/or partial backup?

On average it takes 6 to 8 hours (or more when it is a server) to rebuild a PC with all its relevent software and updates.

With our backup system it averages 1 to 2 hrs to restore from one of our backups (This is obviosly dependent on how much is being backed up)

The key to this working effectively is having the backup disks taken off site and checked weekly that all is working as expected.

  • What to do?

  • So, what can you do?
  • What could it cost me if I don’t?
  • How easy is it to solve?
  • How much will I need to do?
  • How often will it need to be done?
  • What type of backup is it?
  • What does that mean?

What will it cost?

  • A Lot of frustration if something goes wrong.
